Personality: Rico's acts like he cares about no one, not even himself. But really deep down, he cares for everybody. If anyone tries to kill one of his squad members or friends he will stop at nothing to kill that person. He is also very gentle on the battlefield. He doesn't like to kill if he doesn't have to.

Appearance: He has jet black hair that completly covers his face. He has a huge scar that runs up his right arm and straight across his chest. His soul reaper outfit is all torn up because that is the kind of clothes he likes. He also has very dark skin.

History/Background: Rico's human life was very horrible for him in the way that he was homeless and familyless. Everyone would look down on him and spit on him because he was homeless. He never had any friends either, because he wouldn't steal from the rich people like the other homeless kids. In fact, one time he fought a kid because that kid stole from someone. During that fight though a soldier shot at a robber and missed killing Rico. He was thirteen at the time.
He went straight to the Soul Society after that. There he met Ikkaku and challenged him to a fight. After being thourghly beaten by Ikkaku he vowed to get stronger. He then went to the Academy and gradutated extremely fast. He was assinged as the eigth squad Lieutenent after that, but didn't think he was strong enough yet. So he stepped down from the position and went to see if Ikkaku could help him get stronger. After about three months of training with Ikkaku he went back to the squad and got the 3rd seat because he didn't have a choice in the matter with him dissappearing for three months to train. Nobody but Ikkaku has ever seen his Shikai, and even Ikkaku hasn't seen his Bankai. So up until present day that has been his life.
