Character Traits: Kyoukan’s bark is no where as bad as his bite, he is normally calm and will not rise his voice even when his division are fighting amongst themselves and seems quite a relaxed overall and even shows a bit of a sense of humour at times, but be warden do not joke about his lupine nature or you will draw out his wild side.
He does not take jokes directed at him being a wolf well, and will normally pin down the Shinigami that said it till he/she apologises, in a fight he normally just rips and tares at an opponents till they are exhausted and die slowly from blood loss, he tends to hate going Shikai as it ‘makes him look like a beast’
Bio: when he was alive Kyoukan was a normal wolf, nothing spiritual about him why or how someone like him ended up with the spiritual power is unknown, when he died and was sent to the soul society he wondered around the wild and distant areas in the Rukongai, living his spirit life not all dissimilar then his living life but this time he always remained a lone wolf like the other wolves could feel something different about him so he wondered for days, growing hungry with every step he took.
After many days of wondering he finally retched the 80th district of the Rukongai, padding into the dusty and run down town he got the attention of a group of thugs, thinking that the large dog would be good sport, Kyouken was stricken on the back of the head knocking him to the ground but not out, as the humans came around and started to beet him, kicking him and just generally poking him with clubs or blunt katanas a rage stirred in him like he had never felt before.
He was tired hungry and far from any home he knew, how dare these monkeys poke and prod him!
With a snarl he jumped to his feet and lunged at one of his tormenters, his fanged skinning into the flesh of their neck, his screams where cut off in a gurgling snap as his voice box was ripped from his throat, in a blood fuelled rage he then went on to kill the others, it was not till many hours and many more bodies later that Kyouken collapsed from exultation, unbeknownst to the wolf that his frenzy had taken him from the 80th districts up too the 74th, where normally killings in the 80th like that where not uncommon Soul Society felt like they should in this case, whilst a slaughter in one may be common, it spreading to others was not.
When a small team of Shinigami arrived at the seine they found Kyouken covered in blood laying amongst a mass of bodies, curses that a wolf could do this they took him back to Seiretei to be studied and inevitably destroyed but lucky new of his would be fate reached the ears of the 7th division captain, Komamura Sajin, he saved Kyouken of his fate and saw pretental for the wolf to become a Shinigami like himself, for years he was kept in the 7th division under the guise of him being the squads pet, but was being trained in the captains spare time.
First came was the ability for the wolf to speak fluently like any other Shinigami, then came his manifestation of his zanpakuto that he learnt to wild between his jaws, when after a few years he displayed the ability to use Shikai that the captain commander Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryūsai accepted him as a full Shinigami, he stayed with division 7 till Aizen’s betrayal when the 5th division needed a new captain Kyouken was put forwards to preformed the captains test despite much controversy among the normal Shinigami the remaining captains agreed and promoted the wolf to the captain of the 5th division.
