Byuuto Voruta, the Segunda Espada Empty

Name: Byuuto Voruta
Age: Died at age 32, has lived for 224 years. Appears to be in his 30s.
Gender Male
Appearance: Voruta's eyes are a forever burning red, showing both his passion for battle and his determination to live. His face is chiseled and hard, still adorning scars from when he was a human. These scars would be seen as ugly by some, but they actually bring life to an otherwise boring face. They tell a story that Voruta's thin lips won't. Voruta's hair is black as midnight, completely straightened, and comes down to his shoulders. His mask is pure white and jagged, covering his right cheek. Voruta's arms are rather scrawny for an arrancar, for his true strength lies within his legs.

Voruta wears the blindingly white jacket and loose fitting pants that have become customary of the loyal arrancar, but he has added his own flair to the outfit. His pants are decorated with large black flames leading up to his black shoes. The sheathe for his zanpakuto reaches down to the middle of the flames. His jacket is torn up to his biceps, just barely hiding his tattoo of a two. He keeps his jacket zipped at all times. The collar of his jacket covers his throat, concealing his hole. His body is tanned and covered with scars like the ones that decorate his face, speaking of his lifetime of battle. A single golden ring is on his left ring finger (his sword hand), in remembrance of the only person he has ever loved.

Personality: He gained an intense love of destruction after becoming an arrancar he would routinely enter any and all human towns, destroying stores, statues, and small villages for his own enjoyment. He looks down on humans, vividly remembering what the actions he took while he was one and why he had taken them. He feels that by destroying them, he releases them from the pathetically meager existence that they live, loyal to only dollar signs and possessions. He remembers his constant need for "more", more money, more status, more clothes, more stuff. After becoming an espada, he learned that wanton destruction isn't very smart most of the time and that he should try to control himself. In life, Voruta was a charismatic man, normally the life of the party. His weaknesses were his love of women and an excessive penchant for alcoholic drinks. In battle, he was cold hearted, but still more in control of himself than he is now. He would kill opponents when they begged for mercy and destroy friends who showed the slightest sign of mutiny.

History:

Human Life:
At age six, Voruta's father began teaching him how to sword fight. His father was a doctor, but he was too young to find anything weird about this. Fast forward five years, Voruta had been trying his best to not sound like he felt superior to his peers. At the age of 11, Voruta overpowered his father in a sword fight for the first time, beaming the whole time. Voruta's father just smiled and hugged him, showing just how proud he was. Being able to defeat a human shinigami was no small feat after all. Yes, Voruta's parents were the shinigami protectors of Tokyo, though they did actually find love with each other, they had originally just met as partners. Voruta's father was nowhere near what anyone would call a doctor, it was just his cover. His wife was a former member of 4th squad, so she would use her healing powers on any patient he had. It was a perfectly thought out plan. Later on, when Voruta was just 17, an adjuchas attacked the town and killed his parents in the process. Voruta would come to pick up his father's zanpaktou and defeat the now wounded adjuchas himself.

After the death of his parents, Voruta dropped out of school and took on work as a mercenary. His first job was simple enough, his employer had gotten wind of an underground slave trade on Kyushu, Japan's southernmost island. His job was to free those slaves. His employer would take information on the slave trade and show the public. Most of the people of Japan wouldn't take kindly to the buying and selling of people when they lived in pitiable conditions. The money even one of these people uses to buy slaves could improve hundreds of lives. Simple, right? The squad that he joined freed the people and Voruta met his wife in the process. She was from the United States and had been captured two years earlier. She had been kept in the facility where the slaves were held for half a year. Over the next 15 years they worked together on mercenary operations and became married until a bounty was placed on them. They had abandoned their squad because of a disparity between Voruta and the squad's co-leader. Voruta and his wife died on their front doorstep, their hands clasped together and bodies broken.

Hollow Life:
He was small, smaller than he had ever been before. He felt like a child, held in the loving embrace of the sand. He heard nothing but the wind for awhile, and he laid there, with only the beat of his own heart for music. Did he even have a heart anymore? Or was he so used to hearing heartbeats that he imagined his own even when it wasn't there? He thought that he would stay there forever until the voice of his wife mobilized him. She told him that she was in a place called Soul Society and she had met a man named Aizen. She told him to get stronger, as strong as he could before Aizen came for him.

It wasn't long until he became a gillian and began to reside in the menos forest. He would battle against the other hollow that came to form his body and warred with the other gillian. He realized that he needed to get out so that his wife and this "Aizen" could find him. He spent two years escaping the forest and walked upon the sand again. He spent five years consuming hollow until his wife came before him in full Shinigami dress. She told him that he needed to consume her soul to gain more power. He destroyed her without hesitation, becoming an adjuchas in the process.

Voruta consumed all the souls that he could, those of his fellow hollow and even those of humans, but preferring that of the shinigami. He attacked Tokyo just as that adjuchas had, but he succeeded in his destruction. There was no one like him around to stop him from creating all the carnage he wanted to. It took a hundred years of consuming souls, a hundred years of becoming stronger, before his power was discovered by Aizen, before he finally became a Vasto Lorde. Still retaining his human mind even through that animal exterior, Voruta remembers knowing not to attack Aizen when he saw him. He was taken to Las Noches, turned into an arrancar, and told to go wherever he wanted and do whatever he wanted with his power. All he had to remember was that his power belonged to Aizen when the time came.
